With the revival of Wheezy’s Gaming, I’m going to be focusing on 3 central pillars going forward:
- Bringing Gamers Together
- Helping You Learn Games Quickly to Make the Most of Game Time
- Sharing Fun Gaming Experiences with Friends
Gaming with friends is what Wheezy’s Gaming was always supposed to be about. It’s what I love. It’s what makes gaming 100x more fun for me. And from what I’ve seen, that’s true for a lot of you as well.
Bringing Gamers Together
Playing with friends is all well and good, but what happens when your friends aren’t gamers? Or they don’t play the games you enjoy most? What do you do when you need to find awesome people to have fun gaming with?
That’s Pillar 1 of Wheezy’s Gaming, and the largest and most ambitious part of this project. Together, we’re going to build a community of gamers, and a hub where they can come together and find other people to play with.
There are a small number of services, apps, websites, etc. that currently attempt to accomplish this task. And rather than reinvent the wheel, we will be leveraging those tools as much as possible. They give you the tools, we’ll use them to have fun and kick ass together! Because your time is limited, and you want to spend more time playing, and less time Looking for Groups.
Helping You Learn Games Quickly to Make the Most of Game Time
The gaming community, especially on YouTube, is largely comprised of people who make a living from playing video games all day, and the people that follow those channels and spend a significant amount of their time watching and learning about the games they love. And that’s great.
But there are a LOT of people out there, like myself, that have to try and make the most of gaming time. Work, kids, life… these things interfere with fragging time! Damn it!
Not everybody can consume, or even WANTS to consume, 10-20+ hours of content to learn how to be decent at their multiplayer game of choice. Pillar 2 of Wheezy’s Gaming is to distill down the essential things you need to know to get good at a game FAST, so you can start having fun playing with friends right away.
We won’t be able to cover EVERY game, especially early on. But as the community grows, and more of YOU gather here, we can expand what is covered, and harvest the knowledge of the community to build a database of the most need-to-know aspects of all your favorite multiplayer games.
Sharing Fun Gaming Experiences with Friends
Sometimes you can’t be gaming. Life is unfair that way sometimes 😉 And entertainment is a good way to pass those times! I started Wheezy’s Gaming because I LOVE playing games with friends, and that experience is all too easily lost these days, in a sea of gamers trying to show how good they are at games instead of just having fun PLAYING.
My childhood (which, yes, was in the dark ages before the internet) included sitting on the couch with friends playing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on the NES, Sonic on the Genesis, GoldenEye on the N64, Twisted Metal on the PlayStation, Madden on the PlayStation 2. With online gaming, came the ability to have these experiences with friends that lived halfway across the country… or around the world!
That’s why one of the most important components of Wheezy’s Gaming, and my continued technical challenge, is to prioritize capturing Party Chat with gameplay. Because playing with friends, and the banter that goes along with it, is the pinnacle of online gaming.
Pillar 3 of Wheezy’s Gaming will be to continue to capture, highlight, and share these experiences. In addition to posting gameplay videos to Wheezy’s Gaming on YouTube, I will also be streaming significantly more often. Definitely to my Twitch Channel, and potentially also directly to YouTube.
